Mookaite is a type of Japser. It is mainly found in Australia. Its name comes from where it is found near Mooka Station. Jasper can come in many colors ranging from red, yellow, green, blue and brown. It was a very popular stone in ancient times. It can be traced back through Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek, Latin, and Persian languages suggesting that it was common in many cultures. Most jaspers break with a smooth surface making them appear polished. This smooth surface makes them ideal for ornamentation.
